An aging swing gate operator was replaced with a new UL 325-listed unit, along with monitored photo eyes and a keypad post at the driveway entrance.
The problem
The old arm operator on the double gate had no external safety sensors and had begun to stall in cold weather. The family wanted remote and keypad access, and the new operator needed monitored entrapment protection to run on remotes.
What we did
- Checked both leaves for sag and freed a stiff hinge
- Installed new swing gate operators on both leaves
- Added monitored photo eyes covering the closing and opening zones
- Set up a keypad post and remotes, then tested reversing on each leaf
The result
Both leaves open and close together on a remote or keypad code. The operator reverses when the beam is broken, and the owners have a clear routine for keeping the sensor lenses clean in winter.
